Legacy grew from the ashes of World War One. In the trenches of the Western Front during World War I, a soldier said to his dying mate “I’ll look after the missus and kids”. This became known as The Promise – and it is still kept today. Legacy, at present, supports over 40,000 partners and children of our veterans.

This year, Legacy commemorates 100 years of service with The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay 2023, presented by Defence Health. Get behind an official Torch Bearer or Ambassador in your local area and support their fundraising efforts for their leg of the relay journey. For almost 100 years, Legacy has provided stability, guidance, and assistance that a partner would normally provide to his or her family. Today, Legacy supports over 40,000 partners and children of veterans who gave their lives or health while serving our country.
This year marks a century of service. The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay 2023, presented by Defence Health, is a commemorative event that will recognise the sacrifice of many families over the past century as well as the efforts of countless volunteers who have supported them throughout grief and hardship.
